Just under 10 km from us is the village of Jasov, home to one of the most significant caves in the Slovak Karst National Park—Jasov Cave. Jasov Cave was the first cave in Slovakia to be made accessible to the public, since 1846, and is famous for its calcite sinter formations, beautiful rock shapes, the development of underground spaces, a wide variety of bat species, archaeological findings, and its fascinating history. Since 1995, the cave has hosted speleoclimatic stays. The cave is part of the UNESCO World Heritage cultural and natural heritage. The village of Jasov is also known for its 18th-century Baroque Premonstratensian monastery. The monastery houses a significant library with over 80,000 books in the field of theology.
If you’re looking for an easy hike where you can fully relax and end with breathtaking views, be sure to follow the Educational Trail Jasovská Skala, which starts and ends in the village of Jasov. The hike to Jasovská Skala is especially interesting during the summer, as the vibrant nature, with the presence of protected plant species and the cheerful songs of birds, will accompany you. Jasovská Skala itself is naturally divided into three sections and also hides a trench from a former 14th-century castle, with some partially preserved stone walls. The trail is a loop, so once you've soaked in the beautiful views of the surroundings, you can return via the same route. If needed, we will be happy to print a map of the trail for you at the reception.
