Why we are Zlatý Hýľ
Once upon a time, more than 777 years ago, in a forest near a beautiful meadow, lived many small singing birds known as hýľov.
People often visited the forest to pick mushrooms, and among them was Stefan, who loved the place so much that he built a small house there for his family. He even began to call himself Stefan Hýľ.
Soon, more people moved in with Stefan, and a village was formed, which they named Hýľov.
Stefan's son, Tomáš, often observed the birds dancing around him. One day, he noticed one bird with something very unusual. As he approached it, he saw golden powder on its feathers. That night, Tomáš couldn’t sleep due to the golden-feathered hýľ bird, and the next morning, he gathered the best seeds to prepare for his new friend, deciding to follow the bird and see where the golden powder came from.
The bird flew, and Tomáš followed it; at times, it would stop to rest, and the bird would land and peck the seeds Tomáš had prepared. After a long journey, they arrived at a cave by a stream, which, upon entering, Tomáš couldn’t believe his eyes — it glittered with gold!
Tomáš immediately told his father, and they began mining the gold, becoming very wealthy. When the king heard of this, he sent helpers who settled near the golden cave, and so the village of Zlatá Idka was born.
As for the golden-feathered hýľ, when he returned to his own kind, they rejected him because of his golden feathers. He could no longer visit the cave, as it was crowded with people mining gold. So, he settled in a beautiful, quiet place between Hýľov and Zlatá Idka, where he built a nest. He found a mate who loved the place, and they lived happily there for a long time, with their children, and their children's children, living there to this day. And that place is still called Zlatý Hýľ.

History
The hotel is built on a meadow between Hýľov and Zlatá Idka, on the former land of the ČSD Pioneer Camp.
The Pavlík family bought the property and began improving it in 2000. The first part of the former pioneer camp to be renovated was the family house, orchard, and gardens. Later, we focused on the reconstruction and expansion of the wellness area, hotel section, and multifunctional sports field.
Today’s form of this family hotel has been achieved thanks to perseverance, dedication, a sense of quality and detail, and the belief that one day our family would be able to share this oasis of peace and tranquility with others.
